Crazy Mini Birds With Sassy Sentiments

AAAAAACK I love these birds…. and what do I love more than these birds you ask? I love these birds coupled with the hilarious sentiments and gorgeous stencils of The Rabbit Hole Designs! It's a match made in heaven. So, in result I have a batch of clean and simple cards featuring some stellar products to share with you today. If you want to learn more, read on friends, read on.

For all the birds I used the Mini Bird Crazy & Things rubber stamp set from Stampers Anonymous - Tim Holtz. This bird stamp set that I used actually belongs to my daughter. She recently turned 10 and asked for some bird stamps for her birthday. She was kind enough to let me borrow them and I'm so glad she did! I stamped out all six fabulous birds with some copic friendly ink on my beloved Neenah 110lb white cardstock. I proceeded to color them in with my copics (whilst watching Harry Potter with the Tot) and then fussy cut them out using my awesome precision scissors. I know, I know, blech…fussy cutting. But here's the truth ya'll, I don't mind it. In fact I find it quite theraputic. Now heat embossing? That, that drives me crazy and I don't fancy it AT ALL. Anyway, back to the cards. Did you see the detail on these birds? I love the sketchy cross hatching, it tells you exactly where to apply the shading/shadows on the image when you are coloring. These are perfect for practicing if you are new to copic coloring or really coloring in stamps at all. I find the same type of built in shading guides in the Mini Cats and Dogs set as well by Stampers Anonymous.

Now for the card bases. I used Neenah 110lb again and made them in standard A2 size. I was able to find all 6 different sentiments (and more actually, I had to narrow it down) from the must-have Sassy Sentiments Stamp Set from The Rabbit Hole Designs. Their sentiments simply can not be beat and I'm so glad to have this set in my crafty arsenal. For the ink blending I used all stencils from TRHD. I will have the specific stencils that I used listed below. Be sure to check out their selection because I find them all to be quite unique and versatile. So basically I selected 6 different TRHD stencils and 6 different Distress Oxide inks colors and ink blended on the bases with the brand new amazing Cotton Tail Blending Brushes by TRHD. These blending brushes sold out so fast that at the time of writing this, they are currently on backorder. However, the good news is that you can pre-order them online now. These blending brushes are my favorite! They blend like a dream and they are all white so it's super easy to determine which color family you are using the brushes for. I would definitely recommend these brushes and the price point can't be beat.

Once I completed the ink blending I chose the sentiment that I felt best suited the card and stamped that directly on the card base with my versafine detail pigment ink. I put some big mama foam tape behind the birds (even on the little fiddly parts) for stability and that completes the cards. I decided to leave the insides blank so that there is oodles of room for gushing to the recipient but of course if you want to jazz it up inside by all means, you do you Boo.

So there ya have it, six clean and simple, easy to batch cards ready to go. I hope you found some inspiration here today and that you feel compelled to get out there and make somethin'!
